Lovely to meet you.

Jennifer G Douglas MSN, CRNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC. She/They

As the owner and founder of Wildflower Psychiatry, my work is deeply personal because I’ve walked the path of healing myself.

I am a wounded healer, someone who has lived through the complexities of depression, complex PTSD, dissociation, and the often overwhelming experience of navigating the healthcare system. I know firsthand how isolating it can feel to carry invisible wounds, to search for support in spaces that don’t always feel safe or inclusive, and to summon the courage to ask for help when vulnerability feels like the biggest risk.

My journey has also been shaped by my experiences with gender identity and sexual expression, and the challenges of finding affirming care in systems that often overlook or misunderstand these parts of who we are.

I’ve felt the weight of being unseen, the frustration of having to explain or defend my identity, and the exhaustion of trying to find a space where I could simply exist as my full, authentic self.

My own experiences have shaped how I practice, allowing me to hold space for others with empathy, not from a place of clinical distance, but from genuine connection and shared humanity.

This is why I created Wildflower Psychiatry—a practice rooted in compassion, authenticity, and radical acceptance. A place where you don’t have to justify who you are, where your story is met with understanding, and where your identity is welcomed, not challenged.

I’m a dual-certified Nurse Practitioner in Family Medicine and Psychiatry with over ten years of experience caring for individuals and families through some of their most vulnerable and transformative moments. My path has taken me through high-acuity hospital settings, from trauma and oncology units to labor and delivery and inpatient psychiatry.

I earned my Family Nurse Practitioner degree Summa Cum Laude from Simmons University and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing.

I completed additional psychiatric training through a Post-Master’s Certificate at Wilkes University.

As a fierce patient advocate, I am firm believer in shared decision making. I prioritize reading through patient provided information prior to appointments so that myself and the patient can discuss the information together. It is crucial that there is an open line of communication before, after, and in between appointments.

Outside of my work, I really enjoy nature walks, reading (historical fiction is my thing) dancing, discovering new restaurants, making art (especially sketching and watercolour painting), playing games, and writing.
